“You can’t, you know, take over us in this conflict,” was Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov’s blunt message to the West regarding the war in Ukraine.
The reason, he stated, is “simply because of our nuclear weapons.” He presented this as a non-negotiable fact of the conflict.
He explained that Russia’s military doctrine includes the “possibility” of using this arsenal if the state faces an “existential threat.”
Therefore, he argued, European hopes for a Ukrainian victory are “childish behavior” and “unprofessional.”
He also claimed that Donald Trump “understands” this “futility” and knows the war “is lost by Ukraine and the West,” unlike the “belligerent” European leaders.
